Former VIXEN Drummer Schedules NAMM Signing Session
January 7, 2009Former VIXEN drummer Roxy Petrucci will take part in a signing session at this year's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which is being held January 15-18 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. She will be at the Zildjian booth on Saturday, January 17 at 3:00 p.m.
Important: The NAMM show is **NOT** open to the public. The only attendees are NAMM member companies and their invited guests.
Petrucci in May 2008 announced that she was going to collaborate with fellow original VIXEN members Janet Gardner (vocals/guitar) and Share Pedersen (bass) on some new music. She later stated, "It was great to reconnect with Janet and Share again and catch up on our lives. Recording together sounded like a good idea at the time, but easier said than done. We did toss around some song ideas and that's where we left it... doh! I'm not sure if or when we'll record together, but in the meantime, I do hope Janet releases a solo CD... We all miss her voice and as I told her I'll be happy to slam down some grooves."
VIXEN's self-titled debut was released in 1988, and fueled by heavy radio and MTV rotation of the single, "Edge of a Broken Heart", the album surpassed the gold sales mark in the U.S. and went on to sell over one million copies around the world. VIXEN's follow-up album, "Rev It Up", was released in 1990, and the singles "How Much Love" and "Love Is A Killer" spent some time on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart.
VIXEN's original members, Janet Gardner (vocals),Jan Kuehnemund (guitar),Share Pedersen (bass) and Roxy Petrucci (drums) appeared together on VH1's "Bands Reunited" in October 2004 to reminisce about their start on L.A.'s Sunset Strip and their rise to fame in the late 1980s, before the onset of grunge in the early 1990s displaced metal at the top of the charts. They also took part in a short performance for the program, a sample of which can be viewed below.
